Our exams are held each June under the NZAMD system.

I expect everyone to enter the exams - please let me know if your dancer is unable to.

Exam protocol:

Rosette 1: I dance with them. At the end, parents are invited in to watch presentation of Rosettes.

Rosette 2: I don’t dance, but talk/count them through each exercise. At the end, parents are invited in to watch presentation of Rosettes.

Rosette 3 AND Stretch-Leap-Spin: I don’t look at or speak to them at all - they dance independently. At the end, parents are invited in to watch presentation of Rosettes/banners.

All ‘Grade’ Exams: I don’t look at or speak to them at all - they dance independently. They receive a certificate a few weeks later.

Exam results:

There are 9 pass grades. I expect everyone to pass (and they do!), because I know they all try their best. The 9 results are:

Exam wear:

Hair in a bun, fringes off face.

(Need help? Ask hairdressers Michelle or Karina.)

No makeup, jewellery, friendship bracelets, hair accessories, or fake tattoos.

Ballet tights, ballet shoes and ballet leotards - pink for most, black for Grade 2 and up.

Jazz leotards, jazz leggings and jazz shoes - all black.

I will provide all dancers with 2 numbers (worn front and back).

Exam day:

Dressing room is my house! 50 Muriwai Rd. Please be there 30 minutes before the exam is due to start. If you are able to help extra dancers get ready as well as your own, that would be very helpful.

Hall doors: Please enter through the back door into the bathroom area and wait. Dancers will enter the main hall at the sound of a bell.

Nadine: I will be in the hall, operating the music. I am not allowed to look at or speak to the dancers!

Food: If anyone can help provide morning tea and lunch for our examiner, please let me know.

Exam dates for 2012:

These will be held sometime between 15 June and 29 June 2012. Actual day to be confirmed nearer the time.

Exams run all day, from 9-5, usually on a school day.
